Resurrection

There is no silence in the grave
old roots heave and sigh;
all you had is lost, surrendered
all you were, has seeded back through time

There is no peace within the grave
cold rains drill, then flood
till you are sunk, made faceless
redemption lying deep below the mud

There is no resting in the grave
clay thuds dull and faithless
yet death is not our last landscape
and graves cannot contain us
